Symbiont developed a design-build solution to replace a temporary wastewater pretreatment system at personal care products manufacturing facility. The unique process solution includes two stages of oils and solids separation, equalization, and residuals management. Our design met requirements for fats, oils, and grease (FOG) removal, total suspended solids, particulate biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), particulate chemical oxygen demand (COD), and pH adjustment.
Symbiont developed a unique process to reduce wastewater costs for a paper mill in Wisconsin. To confirm preliminary estimates, Symbiont constructed and jointly operated an on-site pilot system of attached growth technology.
Symbiont utilized state funding to perform a waste-to-energy feasibility study for a paperboard mill. The study maximized the use of matching funds to identify capital and operations cost of wastewater pretreatment to generate renewable energy.
A recycled paper mill in Wisconsin selected Symbiont to provide engineering design services for a high rate anaerobic pretreatment system for their mill. The pretreatment system significantly reduced the organic content in the effluent discharged to the municipal sewer and lower sewer cost. The pretreatment process consists of wastewater cooling, pre-acidification, and a fluidized bed anaerobic reactor. This treatment process was selected to fit in the small area available on site.
